How can a crew affect radar detection range?

How can the crew affect a radar's detection range?

Nonsense? No! They can. There are plenty of tedious formulas on the subject in specialist literature for higher military education. But how? Do they pedal a generator? Perform some kind of ritual? Straighten the wave through psychic power? Correct! The second one: they perform a ritual. More precisely, they disable the automatic threshold that separates target detections from noise. That threshold is usually set for at least 95% correct and 5% false identifications, more often 98–2 or even 100–0. Interesting algorithms work within that automatic threshold, but a person using their eyes and experience can still do better. A human can assess a positive signal rejected by the automatic system as false and make a different decision. In practice, this means more false alarms but also greater system sensitivity, which in turn affects the detection-range threshold. There you have it... )))
