I want to sincerely thank everyone who's helping design and develop the game. You can't imagine how important your contribution is! Here's an example. We watch a film and see things that make no sense, plot holes and mistakes. I can understand them. I even know why they're there in particular places. The flow of the action, pacing, and sheer beauty often matter more than realism. But that's film. Unfortunately, this approach to design has migrated into most modern games. That won't do! A film lasts two or three hours. We enjoy it and forget it. We return to an interesting game again and again and spend tens or hundreds of hours with it. Naturally, we start noticing inconsistencies and plot holes.
Everything in a game should be as coherent as possible. That's what we're aiming for: an intelligent, complex, credible game with an interesting, believable backstory.
I can't make this project on my own. I can't. It's impossible. But WE can! There are four people involved in the project now. Wait, five. At completely different levels. One writes the server; another describes a farm or sawmill. The truth is that everyone matters! Let's make the game that we dream of, that I dream of: a serious, detailed space simulation. Even if it isn't a commercial success, can we raise 50 dollars a month for a server so we can play the thing everyone dreamed of but nobody dared to make? Without a doubt, we can.
That came out rather scattered, but there it is. Thank you to those working on the project. Thank you to those who are just joining. Thank you for your energy, time, and work! Thank you. You're great!
To come back to the point: do you know WHY your input matters? People are all different, while an author is just one person. An author will never think of a turn that can emerge from collective creativity alone. And because we're aiming for the world's best science-fiction simulation, we can make it real only together. So let's roll up our sleeves and do it! ;)
