Today I worked on optimization and the order of network operations. I also finally split the code into blocks and added comments, because I'd noticed I sometimes spent quite a while finding the section where the code I needed had been written.
The order of operations matters for optimization, too. I found that if I send two different requests to the server within a very short time, their responses arrive at the same time, or almost, and the logic treats them as one response packet. The parser then fails to parse part of the message properly. I could add more logic, and eventually will need to, but sending simultaneous requests like that isn't ideal either. So I refined the logic for requests, responses, and permission to send subsequent requests. I also did a lot of household chores and a great deal of work on the Christmas project.
